Revenue Inspector, Khandasahi, Gop tehsil, Puri, Partha Sarathi Sethi was arrested by officers of Vigilance in a bribery case on Friday.
Sethi was demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs 6,900 from complainant Padma Charan Behera (Ward Member) of Sankhatira village, Gop, Puri for releasing crops damage compensation to 19 farmers.
The trap was laid on RI Sethi’s residence located at Kusupur, Puri. A case was registered.
Similarly, Junior Clerk, Office of the Sub-Registrar, Baliapal, Baleswar, Naba Kumar Das was arrested for receiving bribe of Rs 7, 000 from complainant Antaryami Barik of Pathadurga, Singla, Baleswar for release of two sale deeds by the Vigilance sleuths.
During search of office room of Das, cash of Rs 5, 94,235 was recovered. The rented residential house of Das located at Nandika under Jaleswar police limits was searched. A case was registered.
