Puri Superintendent of Police Anup Kumar Sahu has requested the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to track the pedophile French tourist who was an accused in a child abuse case here and ensure that he did not go out of the country.

According to Sahu, an American tourist James Gorman on the December 2 reported with the Sea Beach police station that he found the French tourist abusing four children in an isolated area of the beach on November 26. While he tried to record the incident in his video camera, he was attacked. He named him as Mathui Purik (45), said Sahu.

The police registered a case under various Sections of IPC and Sections 8 and 12 of the Child Protection Act against the accused. It was found that the accused had left the hotel next day. The police had identified two of the four victim children, who said during counselling that the accused tourist made them nude.

The district child protection council has been asked to do counseling of the children to know the truth. The police too interacted with the parents of the children and conducted an investigation. SP Sahu said the hoteliers were asked to inform the police regarding suspected movements of tourists and their frequency of arrivals in the city.
