Barely hours after a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik sent on Tuesday by an elderly woman in Puri, the Town police suddenly swung into action and raided a house in Delanga.
They rescued a girl who is granddaughter of the elderly woman from captivity of a youth.
Getting a tipoff on the presence of the captive girl near a stone mine in Ghaudia village, a police team with journalists from Puri and Delanga went there on Wednesday and searched the village. Police found a girl living with a youth in a small house far from the village.
The accused Somanath Rana was arrested under criminal sections and police conducted medical examination of the minor girl.
Notably, Gitamani Mishra in a letter to CM on Tuesday had complained of inaction by police in tracing her kidnapped granddaughter and harassment from police.
