PNS

Kholanai village under Badihi panchayat of Mahakalpada block has no all-weather road.

While the State Government has been implementing several projects to provide pucca road, but this village is yet to avail one, thanks to bureaucratic apathy.

The village with a population of about 400 is situated about a km from the Badhi main road. To reach at the village there are four roads connecting to the village from four directions. But all the roads are muddy, while the one inside the village is a CC road.

“Come from any directions and you will face a muddy road to reach the village. During the rainy season, it has become a difficult task for a person to reach at the village by wearing chappal, leave alone riding a cycle or motorbike. During rainy season, one has to reach the village by walking, negotiating with big ditches and potholes,” stated Pratap Pradhan, an MBA student of the village.

During the rainy season most of the villagers prefer to stay at home, informed Abhaya Kumar Das, a youth of Kholanai.

If the villagers have to go to the district headquarters or to the district hospital during rainy season, then they have use a muddy roadvia Badihi market, alleged the villagers.

If a person falls sick or a woman has to go to the district

headquarters hospital for delivering a child, then he or she is either deprived of treatment or the villagers carry the patient in a basket. The villagers never get opportunity to avail 102 ambulance and 108 ambulance services at their doorstep, complained Pravati Pradhan.

The road connecting to the 30-year-old Kholanai primary school is also an earthen road. During rainy season, most of the time students have to skip the school. Apart from this, the village faces a problem to get potable water. Though the village has three tube wells, including one at the school premises, but the villagers mostly depend on a single tube well as water of the rest two is not fit for consumption.

Meanwhile, the villagers repeated appeal to the local sarpanch, BDO of Mahakalapada, local MlA-cum-the Health Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak to mitigate their woes has fallen in deaf ear.

When contacted, district Collector Debaraj Senapati said the administration was not aware of the problem of the village and assured to take necessary action over the issue.
