Senior BJP leader and former Revenue Minister Manmohan Samal on Tuesday demanded that the State Government publish a White Paper on the steps taken by it to help cyclone Phailin and subsequent flood-affected people of the State.
In a statement, Samal alleged that the State Government has not only failed to provide compensation to the affected but fell short in assessing the damage.
“lakhs of people affected in the Phailin and subsequent floods have lost their livelihoods. While three months have already passed since the cyclone hit the coastal districts, the State Government has done little for them,” Samal alleged.
He said that as irregularities in the distribution of relief materials have been alleged in various parts of the affected districts, the Government should come out with a White Paper soon to prove its tall claims about providing adequate relief to the victims of the calamities.
