Public hearing held for B'swar villages' jurisdictional status

PNS

A public hearing to take decision on the two villages as to whether they fall under the jurisdiction of Remuna panchyat or Baleswar municipality was conducted by the district administration.

MP RK Jena and the villagers of Udaypur and Shakti Nagar were present. The location of the villages makes it confusing if they come under the Remuna panchayat or Balaswar town.

The inhabitants have been facing a lot of difficulties regarding official matters and on registration of land properties on buy and sale. Besides, they are deprived of several benefits and schemes of the Government.

Their land records say they are under Remuna tehsil, while they are included in the voter list of Baleswar municipality and all the surveys including the one for the Food Security Act were made by the municipality.

On the request of the villagers, the meeting was convened by Jena. District Collector Santan Malik, SP Niti Sekhar, local MlA JP Dash, Chairman Baleswar Municipality Alok Sahu,  Tehsildars of Sadar and Remuna attended.

“The tehsildars of Remuna and Baleswar have been urged to demarcate their respective areas and prepare a fresh map. Since the residents have favoured to stay with municipality the resolution and the map would be sent to the Settlement Department for necessary action at its end,” said MP Jena.
