Hundreds of lulu Sena activists led by lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra on Wednesday staged Rasta Roko along the Puri-Bhubaneswar NH-316 and gheraoed the Chandanpur police station demanding arrest of murder accused Sanjay Kumar Swain, a former BJD sarpanch of Bijayramchandrapur gram panchayat.
According to lilitendu, on May 9, while a Pallisabha was in progress at Kotakan village under the Bijayramchandrapur GP, BJD supporters led by Sanjay Swain made an attack on villagers in which Sudarshan Swain, a Congress leader, was critically injured. Sudarshan was rushed to the Puri DHH and then shifted to a Bhubaneswar hospital as his condition deteriorated. And he finally died on May 16.
The news of Sudarshan’s death spread like wild fire among Congress cadres, who brought the body from Bhubaneswar in a massive rally and staged the road block and gheraoed the police station. The activists had an altercation with SDPO Alekh Chandra Pahi. During a tussle with police, the SDPO was injured.
After five hours of agitation, the activists called off the stir when a magistrate assured action against the accused persons.
