The Orissa Environmental Society (OES) jointly with the Save Elephant Foundation Trust celebrated the Wildlife Week by organising a seminar on ‘Future of wildlife is in our hands’ here on Sunday.
The lives of the different species of wildlife are in threat in the overpopulated country. Day-to-day human activities are affecting the environment, said the guests on the occasion. Human activities are also leading to climate change, for which wild animals and birds are going to be extinct, they added.
“For the protection of the animals and birds, we should take care of their habitats. The protection and future of wildlife is in our hand,” said PCCF (Wildlife) and CWW Siddhant Das. OES president Dr Sundar Narayana Patro chaired the meeting. Former Chief Wildlife Warden Saroj Kanta Patnaik and IG, NTCA, Government of India, were present as guests.
They discussed on population control, control of environmental degradation and development of the society without acts of interruption.
OES secretary Dr Jayakrushna Panigrahi gave welcome address and vice-president Dr lala AK Singh introduced the guests.
Prakash Chandra Jena gave a vote of thanks. Many environmentalists and intellectuals were present on the occasion.
