In India, about 6,000 organs are needed for transplant in a day, but only 2 per cent to 3 per cent of organs are made available.

Considering this situation, the Rotary International District 3262 carried out various awareness programmes to promote organ donation and registered many people as organ donation pledge holders. This year, it promoted more than 5,000 organ donation pledge signatories from Odisha.

To further promote this campaign, the Rotary would organise a mega women car rally on Sunday (June 24) in Bhubaneswar. Over 500 female participant would start the rally from the Janta Maidan at 7.45 am and return to the same place after travelling 20 km in the city.

This TSD (time safety and distance ) rally is said to be a unique rally happening in Odisha."By this event we want to create awareness among female members of families by which a whole family will be aware about the noble cause," said Rotary DG Ajay Agarwal. Prominent personalities of Odisha would join the event in support of the cause, said a Rotary Press release.
