Athagarh MlA Ranendra Pratap Swain is backing all corruptions in the constituency and deceiving and misleading the electorate about the various projects and schemes of the Naveen Patnaik Government taking credit for them, alleged Avaya Barik, a youth organiser of the BJD.
Briefing mediapersons here, Avaya said that Chief Minister Patnaik has blessed him to organise for the BJD in Athagarh and to propagate for his good governance.
He alleged that the standing MlA is afraid of him seeing a massive support for him and therefore attacked him and his supporters by employing his goons by hurling bombs towards him and his supporters
while they were holding a demonstration at the block office here on Wednesday last.
He further alleged that Athagarh has seen no development during Swain’s representation period; rather projects and organisations like Jagannath Spinning Mill at Nuapatna, Maa Bauti Powerloom in Athagarh, Dyeing Factory at Dorad, Government cold store, Blood Bank at SDH, OMFED chilling factory and Athagarh law College have been shut down leaving thousands in the lurch.
Swain is terrorising the mediamen by lodging fraud criminal cases. Now Swain’s nephew under the title “Jena Constructions” has taken almost all contracts in the companies in Athagarh, besides opening an ITI
College in the Government land and building. Almost all the officers of Government and non-Government organisations are paying monthly quota to the MlA failing which they are seen transferred to other places, he added.
Gopabandhu Science College, Gopabandhu Women’s College and NAC Office have turned the rehabilitation centre of Swain’s near and dear, Avaya further said. Avaya demanded a Vigilance inquiry on the property of Swain during his representation period of about three decades.
Catching BJD flags and banners and attaching the photographs of MP Bhartruhari Mahatab, district BJD president Pratap Jena, CM Patnaik, Avaya has been organising rallies in support of BJD but opposing the tricks of Swain.
Meanwhile, the feud between the two leaders has put people of Athagarh in dilemma as to whom they would receive as the leader.
