A large number of primary teachers in Mayurbhanj have demanded immediate publication of their final gradation list and giving them promotion subsequently according to their eligibility. The teachers from 26 blocks of the district sat in demonstration in front of the office of DEO here on Monday and Tuesday in support of their demand.
District Primary School Teachers' Association leaders like Manas Kumar Panda, Sarat Chandra Mohanta, Ajit Narayan Bhanjdeo, Govind Chandra Mohanta, Sunanda Jena and Mohan Behera stated that their demands are long overdue as the Government had issued an order to this effect which had urged the District Education Officers to complete gradation and promotion by May 31.
The teachers once again voiced their demands here on Wednesday. Their leaders urged the authorities to announce something positive by Friday or the teachers would go on indefinite strike.
Baripada MLA Prakash Soren and senior leader Kavi Vishnu Satpathy extended their support to the teachers and talked to the authorities. Consequently, the deadlock is likely to be over soon.
