A critically ill preterm baby was saved at the Aastha Mother and Child Care Hospital (AMCCH) here recently.
According to sources, Nabakishore Sethi, a native of Kendrapara district, who had married to one Soudamini Sethi, a resident of Basanti colony here, had admitted his wife in Rourkela Government Hospital on January 20, after she got labour pain.
On January 21, she gave birth to a preterm baby weighing only 1,100 gms. The parents of the baby were asked in RGH to take him to higher centre since the child was very critical and was requiring ventilation. The baby was admitted in the AMCCH hospital on January 25 and required prolonged NICU stay. After 18 days long effort by doctors and nurses of AMCCH, the baby recuperated and was shifted to general ward to be with the mother.
After staying about five days in the ward, the baby recovered fully from her critical illness and was discharged from the AMCCH recently.
