In view of the upcoming panchayat elections, Pradesh Congress Committee president Prasad Harichandan conducted an impressive Chetana Samabesh of the party here on Friday even in the absence of top Congress leaders like KP Singh Deo and leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra.

In a bid to justify his Ekla Chalo strategy, Prasad said the Congress has survived so far for it workers and support of public and not for any leader.

Describing the recent removal of black stoles of women during the Chief Minister’s recent meeting in Sundargarh as a repeat of the heinous crime committed by Dushasan in Kurusava during the age of Dwapar signalling the destruction of the Kauravs, Prasad said the Naveen Patnaik Government has exceeded all limits of human indignity for remaining in power for 17 long years.

Prasad alleged that Patnaik has been continuing in power not for achieving any tangible progress for that State but for a few populist programmes, money power and misuse of Government machinery.

Mahila Congress State president Sasmita Behera said Naveen Patnaik has failed to provide irrigation facility to farmers, education to students, improved health services to the needy and employment to jobless youths. Rather, his misrule is evident from as many as six rape cases every day.

Among others, former Ministers Suresh Routray ad Nabin Chandra Narayandas, PCC treasurer Md Moquim, former DCC president Dr Bidhan Chandra Mishra, former Zilla Parishad President Revati Behera and party vice-president Shreedhar Sahu spoke on the occasion.

The meeting was presided over by DCC president Sudhir Kumar Samal. The PCC president was brought to the meeting place, Mini Stadium, in a motorcycle rally from Korihan Chhak.

Though flex banners of BK Hariprasad, KP Singh Deo and Narasingha Mishra were displayed at the meeting place, none of them were present.
