Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday paid tribute to legendary freedom fighter Buxi Jagabandhu Bidyadhar Mohapatra at Mangalaghat Chowk and Gadrodang in Puri district as part of the BJP’s Triranga Yatra under the Yad Karo Kurbani programme.

The Minister visited the descendants of the freedom fighter in his native village Gadrodang and held discussions with them. He garlanded the statue of Jagabandhu.

He talked to lalitendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra, grandson of Buxi Jagabandhu, and also the latter’s younger brother Congress strongman lalatendu (lulu) Bidyadhar Mohaptra.

Pradhan was welcomed with much fervour and pomp by local residents. He headed for the freedom fighter’s village in a bike rally.

“Paying tributes to freedom fighters and prominent figures of the country is a very noble work. I am honoured to offer my tribute to Buxi Jagabandhu,” said Pradhan.

Notably, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of the Independence Day urged his party MlAs, MPs and office-bearers to visit freedom fighters’ houses in their respective areas with the Tricolour to infuse the feeling of nationalism among countrymen.
