Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan unveiled a book 'Hockey Hai Zindegi' (amazing journey of Odisha's tribal hockey players) authored by Satyendar Pal Singh at a programme organised by the National Yuva Cooperative Society (NYCS) here on Saturday.
Pradhan said Odisha players have a special place in world sports arena.
They bring glory for the country for their dedication and commitment. This is a proud moment for all to unveil the book during the Hockey World cup being played in Bhubaneswar.
He advised translation of the book into Odia and English.
Singh, the author, said the Odia hockey players are very shy to talk about themselves. But after Dillip Tirkey and Lazarus Barla, the scenario has changed.
The book contains interesting stories of many iconic sports talents of Odisha who have registered their claim to fame and achieved success with their own efforts though their struggles since their childhood, Singh added.
NYCS chairman Rajesh Pande said the book would bring a new chapter of Odisha Hockey. Among others, India team captain Manpreet Singh and Hockey Olympian Lazarus Barla were present.
