Pradeep Majhi protests docs’ transfer

Former Nabarangpur Congress MP Pradeep Majhi has strongly opposed the Government’s decision to transfer as many as 100 doctors from  Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Kandhamal districts to Ganjam during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The Government has shown a step-motherly attitude to these districts where a majority of people are tribals and illiterate. The districts are still under the shadow of poor health facilities. The decision to transfer 100 doctors from these districts will add to the woes only,” Majhi told reporters on Saturday.

He demanded that the Government revoked the decision by July 31, or else the party take to the streets.

He further alleged large scale irregularities in supply of materials to the quarantine centres installed in Nabaraongpur district.

Government officials have siphoned of money by supplying substandard materials, which needs a high-level enquiry, he said.
