PPP thanks voters for support in Paradip polls

PNS

The Paradip Pragati Parisad (PPP) has conveyed its gratitude to the voters who supported its candidates, though not in majority, in the recent Paradip Municipality elections.

PPP president Santosh Pattanaik attributed the defeat of PPP candidates to the ruling BJD’s method of luring gullible voters by distributing money and other gifts. Besides, the campaigning by several BJD MlAs, MPs and Ministers including the Chief Minister helped their party win the elections. However, against all these odds, two PPP candidates, in Ward-19 and Ward-3, were able to grab second positions in the poll. The PPP had fielded candidates in only 10 out of the 19 wards and bagged a total of 2,303 votes for its candidates, he added. PPP secretary Manindra Guru said the PPP stands for a corruption-free council.
