After a film poster featuring Ollywood actor Tatwa Prakash Satapathy alias Papu Pompom drew flak from various quarters allegedly for disrespecting women, the comedian issued a ‘clarification’ over the matter in a video on Sunday.
“The poster was not my concept. The movie was shot at a college and someone might have clicked a photograph of a scene. My image has been morphed with the photo for creation of the poster,” said Papu.
“When I contacted the producer of the movie, I was informed that the particular poster was neither an official one nor created by the production house. I shouldn’t be held responsible for it as someone else has created the poster. Those who have committed the mistake should be punished,” he added.
On the other hand, Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo said a case has been registered in this connection. A notice would be served to the production house. Investigation is underway to ascertain whether the poster was released from the movie set or someone else has released it, he said.
Social activist Linkan Subudhi has lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station here demanding action against the actor, the producer and the director of the movie.
Meanwhile, the production house has also issued a statement over the controversy.
“We came to know that a viral post in social media is misleading everyone regarding our upcoming movie ‘Mr. Kanheiya’. We hereby clarify that the said post has not been published by us. The post has no relevance to the story of our movie,” the production house said in a statement.
The poster showing the actor holding ropes tied to the necks of seven girls is being trolled by people across all social media platforms. Social media users, including sprinter Dutee Chand, have strongly criticised the poster as well as the production house.
