Demanding withdrawal of police from the Gobindpur-Dhinkia area near Posco project site in Jagatsinghpur district, the Posco Pratirodh Samannway Samiti (PPSS) staged a dharna in front of the State Assembly here on Tuesday.
Representatives of political parties and social organisations and agitating villagers of Dhinkia area staged a rally at the lower PMG protesting the Government’s high handedness in acquiring land for the Posco steel project.
They demanded to stop forcible land acquisition,maintenance of peace in Dhinkia and distribution of land Patta to the villagers.later, a nine-member delegation met Governor
SC Jamir and requested him to visit the Posco area to see the situation.He assured that he would look into the issue.
Prof Abani Kumar Baral, Prafulla Samantara of the lok Shakti Abhiyan, journalist Rabi Das, Congress leader Umesh Swain, Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera, Suresh Panigrahy from the CPI(M), Santosh Mitra from the Forward Bloc, Sadasiv Das from the SUCI, Sivram from the CPI(Ml) and Jayant Biswal from the Congress went with the delegation.
