The students of FM College as well as intellectuals of the district smell fishy in the development and renovation of the playground of the college.
During the inauguration of the renovated field, Higher Education Minister Ananta Das faced protests. The protesters alleged that large scale irregularities in the renovation of the field have been committed. They observed although a huge amount of over Rd 68 lakh was spent on the project yet there was no change in it.
Sairul Haque , an alumni as well as social activist, said, “There is no significant change even after investing Rd 68 lakh on the project.
There is no sign of fresh grass plantation in field as more than a half of its area looks yellow. The ground is not leveled.”
For the development of the field, the Higher Education Department had sanctioned Rd 68.1 lakh . The work was assigned to the PWD. The work included leveling of ground ,grassing, construction of drains, foot path, paver block and illumination etc.
PWD Executive Engineer Mahesh Mohanty said, “The ground was leveled and fresh grassing was done in the field. Besides, other works were undertaken during renovation. Trimming is to be done and the shortcomings will be addressed.”
Minister Das said, “The department is directed to inflict needful actions to make the field up to the mark within one month. If required the project would be reviewed by the CM.”
