In another development in the Mamita Meher murder case, the Balangir police on Monday seized the JCB machine and scooty used in the crime by Govinda Sahu, the prime accused in the case.

Both vehicles were seized from Mahaling in Kalahandi district and brought to the Sindhekela police station in Balangir district for investigation.

During interrogation, Sahu had confessed that he had used the JCB to bury Mamita’s body in the 10-feet-deep pit dug before the murder on October 8 at the Mahaling stadium while he used the two-wheeler to bring tyres that were used to burn the body.

While Mamita had gone missing on October 8, her remains were exhumed from the pit on October 19. Govinda had throttled her to death in his car while returning to Kegaon from Bhawanipatna following an altercation between the two. The car was earlier seized on October 14.
