Police conducted a raid at the Jeypore Sub-Jail in Koraput district on early Sunday morning following a tipoff of illegal activities being carried out in the prison.
A team headed by Koraput SP Varun Guntupalli conducted the raid and thoroughly searched the jail. The team seized mobile phones and other banned items from the cells of some prisoners.
Jeypore Sub-Collector Hemakanta Sai, Additional SP Utkal Ranjan Das, Jeypore SDPO Arup Abhishek Behera and Borigumma SDPO Harekrushna Majhi were also present during the raid.
The IICs of Jeypore Town, Sadar, Boipariguda and Kundura police stations were also part of the team.
