The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) is gearing up to stage the second T20 International between India and South Africa at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack on October 5.
In this regard the Commissionerate Police (CP) here on Thursday held a preparatory meeting ahead of the Twenty-20 International Cricket Match. After a gap of one year the spectators of the State would witness a international match. As it will be the shorter form of match the numbers of spectators will be very high, said Commissioner RP Sharma.
CP will deploy 84 platoons of force for the safety of players and spectators. The matter of concern is the Rasulgard square where the flyover is yet to finish. Three layer of security will be at Barabati Stadium. Altogether 165 CC Cameras has been installed in and out of the stadium. Bhubaneswar DCP will monitor the arrangement from arrival of the team and their departure on October 6, added Sharma.
The teams for the match will arrive in the State on October 3, while the net practice session has been scheduled on October 4. The match will be played at 7 PM on October 5.
Seats in various stands, excluding galleries of the 45,000 capacity stadium will be numbered for the first time. Public sale of around 20,000 tickets will take place on October 1 and 3. Presently online tickets have been sold out, said OCA Secretary Asirbad Behera.
Total 15 outer entry gates are there in Barabati and one entry exclusively reserved for the players. But 31 inside entry gates are available. The OCA is planning to create another four outer entry gate, added Behera.
last year, OCA had been allocated a T20 match between India and West Indies, but it was cancelled. The Caribbean team had pulled out of the series due to a standoff with their board over contract issues. A scheduled ODI between India and Australia was also washed out in October 2013.
Among others, DCP Bhubaneswar Satyabrata Bhoi, DCP Cuttack Sanjed Arora and Amrita Dash were present in the meeting.
