Police fully geared to counter Maoists, says DGP Mishra

BASANT RATH

Director General of Police (DGP) Prakash Mishra during his visit here on Friday inaugurated SS Battalion at the Reserve Police Office and a police barrack at the Town police station.

He attended a meeting at the district police headquarters, where Additional DGP (Intelligence) Abhay Kumar, Superintendent of Police Brajesh Kumar Rai, besides police inspectors and sub-inspectors of the district, were present. Mishra interacted with the staff members and tried to find out their difficulties.

Speaking to media, Mishra said Nabarangpur district is mostly a plain area. Hence, it is too easy to control the Maoist activities in the district. The BSF jawans would be deployed in the Maoist infested areas of the district for the purpose, he revealed.

Addressing the media at the district police headquarters later here, Mishra said as the ultras are adopting new ways to create terror, the police administration is also frequently changing its strategies to prevent them. Most of the IICs and jawans have been included in a Special Squad to counter Maoist insurgency, he added.

On the establishment of women police stations, Mishra said women desks would be opened at every police station. A Sub-Inspector would be given charge of the desk and the Government has already given its nod in this context, he informed.

To tackle the ATM fraud, special training would be provided to the police very soon and sufficient staff members would be posted in the district, he assured.
