The Paradip Swabhiman Mancha (PSM) on Monday requested Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to fulfil various administrative demands of Paradip people as Paradip was the dream project of his father late Biju Patnaik.
The demands included setting up of a police district, a labour Department office and a Regional Transport Office (RTO) in the industrial town.
PSM president NN Das at a Press meet said that as Paradip is an industrial hub and a fast-growing mega industrial township, there is a need of various administrative offices of the State Government in this urban area.
Das said that as the law and order situation in the town has been worsening and people are insecure about their life and properties in view of the increasing crimes, there is an urgent need of a separate police district for the town.
He also mentioned that thousands of labourers are working in the township, for which a labour Enforcement Office the Central Government is functioning here, but the State Government still remains silent in the matter of establishing its labour Department office.
lastly, he said thousands of goods-carrying vehicles and their drivers now have to go to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) at the district headquarters town of Jagatsinghpur, which is 60 km away from Paradip, for their new driving licences new or renewal and fitness test of the vehicles.
It might be mentioned that earlier the PSM had submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister on January 5, 2018 demanding fulfilment of their demands.
Das threatened that if the general public’s problems are not solved, a mass agitation would be started very soon. Among others, PSM secretary PK Rout was present.
