Police case against MLA Mishra

PNS

The district administration has registered a case against Sambalpur BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra for allegedly misbehaving with Sadar Tehsildar Laxman Amat during an eviction drive.

A senior official of the Khetrajapur police station, where Amat lodged a complaint against Mishra, said that on the basis of the FIR, a case has been registered under six sections of IPC. The police official added that the case against the legislator has been lodged under Sections 143, 294, 186, 353, 506 and 149 of IPC.

Mishra opposed a drive being carried to evict slum dwellers in the Durgapalli area for road expansion work. Also, he had been demanding to rehabilitate the evictees at a place of their choice. After being informed about his opposition, the Sadar Tehsildar reached the place where the eviction drive was being carried out.

Even though the official tried to resolve the matter, Mishra remained adamant about his demand. There was reportedly a brief argument between the official and the legislator. Later the Tehsildar lodged the police complaint against Mishra.
