Forest personnel arrested a taxidermist during the wee hours on Sunday on the charges of attempting to trap a spotted deer after trespassing into the Sunei Rupei Reserve Forest under the Bhitarkanika National Park. The forest officials also seized a haunting dog and nylon loops from his possession. However, three other poachers managed to flee from the spot.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Rajnagar Forest Range conducted a raid at the Sunei Rupei Forest and managed to nab the poacher identified as Jairam Sahu of Banabiharipur village in the district. He was produced before the local court and later remanded into jail custody.
