Sir,
The first two paragraphs of the article “State’s plantation drive in riverbanks praiseworthy” published as ‘Eco Diary’ on Friday deal with plantation and then deviate to the Mahanadi river issue, which is now sub-judice. The writer should have mentioned that millions of trees are planted every year during this time of the year, but hardly 0.2% samplings survive, the rest either dying out or used as fuel by villagers. lots of fanfare and photographs get published in newspapers. How long can we survive with this type of Government’s propagandaIJ The article appeared to me like a Government-sponsored one.
