Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water and Law Minister Pratap Jena, who is on a two-day visit to Kandhamal district from Tuesday, said fresh and safe drinking water through pipelines would be provided to every household in the district by March 31, 2020.
The Minister held a meeting with the district officials at the Collectorate here and directed them to use the Central and State Planning Commission funds and the Planning Board Fund in communication and electric sector.
He also asked the officials to provide the list of vacant posts and to finish the works under the Ama Gaon Ama Bikash programme on time. The Minister also visited different Aahar Kendras in the district.
Later, he inaugurated the Election Store House inside Panchayat office, built at a cost of Rs 14 lakh, and the Kanibali Anganwadi Centre building, built at a cost of Rs 7 lakh.
He also met with Sarpanchs of 11 panchayats and discussed about their problems.
During his visit, Phulbani MLA Angad Kanhar, Zilla Parisad President Akankhya Pradhan, ADM Basant Sahu, DRDA PD Biswanath Barik, ITDA PA Birendra Das, Phulbani BDO Subrat Jena and other district officials were present.
