The demonstration by farmers here demanding suitable compensation for crop loss due to cyclone Phailin in October last entered the third day on Thursday. Farmers from a number of villages staged agitation at different Government offices and forced them to shut down. Dividing them into groups, they agitated in front of the block, rural development, Tehsil, Irrigation and CDPO offices obstructing the employees to do any work.
They also took out a rally to protest against the block administration’s lackadaisical attitude.The agitation will be intensified from Friday as the Government was still not paying heed to us, the agitating farmers warned. Zilla Parishad member Bhagirathi Patra and other PRI representatives are extending support to the stir.
