As several organisations and individuals across the country have come forward to financially support the treatment of critically ill Covid patient Amrit Pradhan, airlifted from AIIMS Bhubaneswar to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, the Ganjam district BJP unit on Sunday appealed to people to donate generously for Amrit’s wellbeing.
Amrit, a resident of Basudev Nagar of Bhabanipur GP in the Gopalpur area, was under treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for post-Covid complications and became critically ill due to pneumonia and septicemia. Doctors advised for his shifting to Chennai. His family and friends put an appeal in social media for help. Within days, people deposited lakhs in Amrit’s account and he was airlifted to Chennai. BJP district president Bibhuti Bhusan Jena went to Amrit’s house and donated Rs 50,000 to his father Madan Mohan Pradhan for his treatment. Another party leader, Sushil Sen Behera, also donated Rs 3,000. Leaders appealed to the people to contribute even Rs 10 each to Amrit’s family in this crucial hour.
