On the occasion of the Martyr’s Day marking the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, senior Congress leaders headed by PCC president Jayadev Jena on Tuesday proceeded to the Rajiv Bhavan and garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi there.
later, presiding over a meeting at the Congress Bhawan, PCC chief Jena said he got an opportunity to work with Rajiv Gandhi during elections. Eradication of poverty from India was his dream. Now, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are following his principles by providing a multiple of welfare schemes for the people. A statue of Rahul Gandhi would be installed shortly in the premises of the Congress Bhawan here, Jena said.
AICC secretary and Odisha in-charge Mirza Irsad Baig also spoke at the meeting. A blood donation camp was organised by Bhubaneswar lok Sabha Youth Congress president lokanath Moharathy at the Congress Bhawan. Among others, leader of Opposition in Assembly Bhupinder Singh was present.
