PNS

Tension prevailed at the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) here on Sunday as a patient died due to delay in treatment because of an alleged dispute between two doctors over treating the patient.

The deceased hailed from Gondia Gundurapasahi village in the district.

Reportedly, the patient had been admitted to the DHH after he complained of severe chest pain. Initially, he was treated by a doctor, who later referred the case to another doctor.

Following this, the two doctors entered into an argument over who would treat the patient as both of them were allegedly unwilling to take charge. However, the patient had died before the doctors could arrive to a conclusion.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s family members claimed that delay in treatment caused by the unending quarrel between the doctors resulted in the patient’s death.

The incident triggered tension in the hospital and the deceased’s family members along with the locals accused the doctors of negligence and unprofessionalism. They also demanded strict actions against the doctors-duo responsible for the death of the patient.

Later, the deceased’s family members and locals held a road blockade at Gondia demanding   compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the deceased’s family members.

Meanwhile, the hospital authorities have sought an explanation from the two doctors.
