A patient was killed while three others suffered grievous injuries when an ambulance hit a divider in Boden block of Nuapada district in the wee hours on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as JanakManahira of Dharanimala village in Boden block. He was returning in the ambulance along with two others after treatment at a hospital.
Janak was returning to his village after being discharged from a private hospital in Raipur when the ambulance hit the divider after the driver lost control of the vehicle at Bireskela.
While Janak died at the spot, three others including the driver were critically injured. Locals rushed them to the Community Health Centre at Boden where the victims are currently undergoing treatment.
Police reached the spot and started an investigation. The body was seized for postmortem.
