Members of the Parents’ Association who had been on an indefinite hunger strike protesting the inconsistencies in the CBSE Class-XII results on Thursday called off their fast.

However, the protestors said they would continue their agitation till their six-point charter of demands is fulfilled.

In the morning, a heated altercation broke out between students and the local CBSE authorities as the latter refused to accept applications from the students for revaluation as directed by the Orissa High Court. However, the CBSE authorities later accepted their application after protests.

A total of 18 students, who had filed petitions at the High Court, had turned up at the CBSE office to apply for revaluation of their answer sheets. The hundreds of protesting parents and students also decided to jointly file a petition for revaluation at the High Court on the day.

Besides, though the High Court had ruled that students can apply for revaluation of answer sheets by paying a fee of Rs 800, the CBSE asked the students to pay Rs 1,000. This also triggered resentment among the parents.
