A leopard was rescued from Takaba guest house area under Atthamallik forest division, adjacent to the Satakosia Tiger Reserve, on Monday.
On a tip-off that a leopard was roaring, Forest personnel rushed to the spot and rescued the mammal which was lying weak. Though initially the Forest officials did not find any injury marks on its body, but they said the leopard was suffering from paralysis. The animal was scheduled to be sent to Nandankanan on Tuesday, said forest official sources.
Notably, last year a leopard carcass had been recovered from Atthamallik range which had been killed in a road accident. The area is vulnerable to rampant poaching, which is done by electrocution.
