The 66th birthday of Jagatsinghpur district BJD president and State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Bishnu Das was celebrated here on Sunday with various activities, including worship of gods and goddess at temples for his healthy and long life.
Sweets, fruits and clothes were distributed to patients of Kujang and Paradip Government hospitals. A meeting was held being presided over by noted trade union leader Santosh Kumar Patnaik, who said Das is not only a political leader but a real pro-people leader and a great well-wisher of all.
Eastern India Oil Refinery Workers’ Union (EIORWU) general secretary Padma Lochan Dash gave welcome address. Jagatsinghpur district BJD secretary Manindra Guru and BJD SC Cell executive member Nirmal Kumar Mallick spoke about Das' innocent and helping nature.
The function jointly organised by the EIORWU, the Jagatsinghpur District Truck Owners’ Association and the Eastern India Kaibartta Mahasabha. Hundreds of men and women were present.
