Dumper owners, who have engaged their dumpers in the Seaways Stevedoring Company for cargo transportation in the Paradip Port, resorted to a strike on Tuesday demanding early payment of dues by the company.
The owners led by Bijay Kumar Nayak staged a dharna in front of the company office at Paradip.
They said the company has not paid them their dues for the last five onths since May.
“We are now unable to bear fuel cost, pay salary to drivers and meet other expenditure required for operating dumpers,” lamented owners.
They called off the strike after the company authority held a discussion and assured the owners to pay dues in two instalments and fulfil other demands instantly.
