Paradip creates record in vessel movement

PNS

The Paradip Port has added yet another feather to its cap by successfully completing movement of 30 vessels within 24 hours beginning from 7.30 am on May 27 till 7.30 am on May 28 morning.

It included 10 incoming vessels, nine outgoing vessels, three shifting of vessels and eight shipping support vessels. And as many as 39 vessels are still waiting at the anchorage to enter the harbour.

This record achievement was possible due to a responsive Harbour Master, marine pilots and other port staffs under the guidance of PPT Deputy Conservator Capt Atulya Kumar Mohapatra, shipping agents, exporters and importers and the cooperation by the Traffic Department.

The previous record was 27 vessels handled in a period of 24 hours on October 15, 2018.

The port is now gearing up to enhance its cargo throughput as it is vying for the coveted top position in the country with a slew of other infrastructures and modernisation facilities. Last fiscal, it clocked 109.27- MMT cargo handling and secured the second position among the Major Ports of India. This fiscal, it is aiming at a 120-MMT cargo handling mark.
