Parab- 2015, Koraput’s tribal festival, was inaugurated from Narayanpatna on Monday after performing a special puja in the local Maa Chaitrani temple and Jagannath temple.
Koraput Collector V Jay Kumar and MP Jhhinna Hikakka lighted the symbolic torch to mark the occasion.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed gathering of thousands of locals.
The district SP, the DFO, the Koraput Sub Collector, the PD DRDA, the ZP president and the DIPRO, among others, were present.
The guests also unveiled Parab -2015 poster and sticker.
“Parab is a festival to find out the hidden talents among the tribes of the region and place it in a national level platform,” said the district Collector.
MP Jhinna Hikakka distributed Rs 3,000 each to 29 people from CM Relief Fund and two work orders to built house from Biju Pakka Ghar Yojna.
