The strike by members of the Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) and large Area Multi-Purpose Societies (lAMPS) Association of 17 Central Cooperative Banks of 30 districts here against the dillydallying attitude of the State Government over their five-point charter of demands entered its fifth day on Friday.

The demands include declaring all PACS and lAMPS members as Government employees with the Government bearing their salaries, provision of an office at Bhubaneswar for the State Association, abolition of the three-level system, i.e, primary societies (PACS, FSS and lAMPS), district Central Cooperative Banks and State Cooperative Bank and their merger in one as ‘Odisha State Cooperative Bank’.

It might be mentioned that a 13-day demonstration had been held by the members in front the State Assembly from September 11 in which about 6,000 workers and 41,000 elected representatives participated.
