Narayan Barik, Overseer in the office of the Assistant Director, Horticulture, Bargarh, was arrested by the Vigilance police for taking bribe of Rs 5,000 on Monday.
Vigilance officers caught him red-handed in front of the Private Bus-Stand at Bargarh while he was demanding and accepting the bribe from Santanu Sahu of village Adagoan to release his wages amounting to Rs 25,000 for cultivation of banana tree under the MGNREGS.
In another such case, Bijay Kumar Moharana, Revenue Inspector, Baragaon under the Jaganathprasad police station in Ganjam district, was arrested by the Vigilance police for taking bribe of Rs 1,400 on Monday.
Moharana along with Jayadev Sahu, Peon of Baragaon Revenue Circle was caught red-handed by Vigilance officers in their office room while demanding and accepting the bribe from Maheswar Dakua of Baragaon to submit inquiry report to Tehsildar, Jaganathprasad, in a mutation case.
