More than 3,000 children in the State are affected by Thalassemia, with over 400 in Khordha district alone, as revealed at a blood donation camp organised by the Business Intelligence Professionals Pvt ltd on Saturday.
Due to non-availability of adequate blood in blood banks in the State, many Thalassemia-affected children face a lot of problems, said company MD Mihir Das, who inaugurated the camp.
A total of 39 units of blood were collected from the camp and handed over to the model blood bank near the Capital Hospital.
Among others, comedian Satuaranjan Mishra, centurion blood donor Gopimohan Patnaik, social activists Sushant Sahoo and Manas Ranjan Mishra were present.
