The Odisha State Open University (OSOU), one among the youngest open universities in India, has received the University Grants Commission (UGC) recognition to offer Postgraduate (PG) and Undergraduate (UG) programmes from academic session 2018-19.
The UGC’s Distance Education Bureau has granted permission to the OSOU to offer 26 courses through the open and distance learning mode from the 2018-2019 to 2022-2023 academic year.
University Vice-Chancellor Prof Srikant Mohapatra said, “This is a historic moment for OSOU and students of Odisha. Students from any part of Odisha can now complete bachelors or master degree through distance learning programmes.”
The university would run the approved programmers through its study centres located at the university campuses and autonomous colleges across Odisha.
Assuring about the quality of teaching, Prof Mohapatra said students would be allowed to write in either English or Odia in the examinations and the teaching method to be followed would be bilingual.
As per the UGC guideline all the admission process for UG and PG shall be completed before October 1, 2018. Accordingly, ‘OSOU would publish the advertisement notification soon’, informed Prof Mohapatra.
