After the State Assembly witnessed frequent adjournments over Narla railway wagon repair factory shifting issue for the second consecutive day on Tuesday, the State Government said a House Committee led by Speaker Niranjan Pujari would meet the Railway Minister soon.

Transport Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi gave a reply on the issue on Tuesday afternoon. He refuted the Opposition’s charge that the project was shifted due to the State Government’s negligence.

“It has been proposed that the House Committee led by the Speaker will meet Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu soon and urge him to withdraw the decision of shifting the project from Narla to Vishakhapatnam,” the Minister stated in the reply.

Earlier, the Speaker had adjourned the House three times as Opposition Congress and BJP members stuck to their guns demanding a discussion on the issue.

While the Congress members alleged that both the Centre and the State Government are responsible for the shifting of the project, the BJP members wanted a discussion to unravel the truth.

On the other hand, the ruling BJD accused the Centre of neglecting Odisha once again.

As soon as the House met at 10.30 am, the Congress and BJP members demanded a discussion on the issue. As the Speaker didn’t respond, they rushed into the Well of the House and shouted anti-Government slogans. The ruling party members too shouted slogans at their seats.

Unable to run the House, the Speaker adjourned it at 12.32 am till 12:05 pm. As similar situation continued, he adjourned the House again till 12.45 pm and then to 3 pm.

The House had been adjourned on this issue on Monday too.The House was adjourned till Saturday.
