In view of rise in Maoist activities on Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, the State Police on Tuesday held a review meeting at Koraput on progress of anti-Maoist operations in south-western region of the State.
The meeting held under chairmanship of South Western range DIG S Shyni was attended by SPs of Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur Kalahandi and Nuapada districts, the BSF DIG and the Cobra battalion Commandant.
The meeting focused on Malkangiri district, which is worst affected by Maoist menace. As the district is sharing border with lWE-hit Chhattisgarh, it was stressed that intelligence and search operations would be strengthened in the district.
Officers focused on construction of Gurupriya bridge which would help the security personnel to enter to the cut-off area (badly-hit by Maoist menace) for search operations. Even, it would help the people residing in the cut-off region to come to the mainland easily.
They also discussed how to strengthen coordination between the Central and the State forces for better operations in the dense forests.
