OPEPA employees’ indefinite stir from today

PNS

Members of the Odisha Primary Education Programme Authority (OPEPA) Employees’ Service Association (OPEPAESA) have decided to go for indefinite mass leave and hold a State-wide agitation demanding regularisation and other benefits from Monday.

This was informed by association president Bichitrananda Jena at a Press meet here on Sunday.

Jena alleged that even if the association, which has been struggling hard for the employees’ cause since long, has submitted memorandums to the State Government several times for fulfilment of its demands, the Government has turned a deaf ear to the plea.

Association general secretary Biswaranjan Pradhan mentioned that the association had submitted a memorandum to the OPEPA Deputy Director on August 18, 2018 over its demands, but there was no result.

Again on January 24, 2019 the association reiterated its demand, but the authority did not consider the demands, resulting in deep dissatisfaction among the employees, he added.

Pradhan also said that the association has informed the Governor and the State Government about its move for agitation.

Mentioning that the employees of OPEPA have been successfully implementing various schemes since 22 years, Pradhan demanded that the Government take immediate steps for job regularisation, providing other services and covering them under the Seventh Pay Commission recommendation.
