OPECA opposes move to adopt central JEE

PNS

The Odisha Private Engineering College Association (OPECA) strongly opposed the State Government’s move to adopt national level entrance test JEE-Main for admission into engineering courses in the State, instead of OJEE. OPECA president Binod Das termed the State Government’s decision as.

He said when a case pertaining to this matter is subjudice in the Supreme Court regarding the Odisha Professional and Educational Act 2007, taking such a decision on the matter is not correct. The association would appeal to the State Government regarding the issue.

“If the State does not look into the matter, we will go to the Supreme Court,” said Das. Notably, the State recently decided not to conduct the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) for engineering from next year as it would adopt the national level JEE-Main score to select students for admission to engineering colleges. After Gujarat, Odisha and Maharashtra are going to adopt the national level exam.
