Consumers would be quite comfortable, while ordering groceries from home among other products, online. With improving comfort of online payments, selling groceries online has become relatively easy, said Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) national president BC Bharitia.
He was speaking on the occasion of launching of “e-lala.biz” by the Odisha Byabasayee Mahasangh (OBM) in association of CAIT at the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry here on Thursday.
People can stop going to the restaurants and cinema, but there is no way they can live without toothpaste, soap and vegetables, he said.
Caught in the city’s fast velocity, boring commuting and long working hours, many consumers do not have the time to buy groceries or would like to avoid the task.
CAIT has seen the potential in creating e-stores for groceries. If consumers can understand the retail market, a bit of creative thinking and excellent customer service can help them build great convenience, he maintained.
He said currently CAIT operates in 40 Indian cities with more than 5,000 partner retailers. local grocery stores can also be turned into business partners, as done by “e-lala.biz” online portal.
OBM general secretary Sudhakar Panda said the traders’ union will rope up in local stores to procure the groceries to be delivered, while focusing on creating the technology platform and the online interface. Within three months, the traders of 30 districts will be registering with the portal.
Panda requested the State Government to enhance stock limit of edible oils and oil seeds. But no action has been taken by the Government till date. If the Government fails to declare the same by March 31, further follow up action shall be taken to stop import of goods from outside the State from April 1, Panda asserted.
