A worker was killed and four others were injured as a gas tank burst in the Jindal stainless steel plant at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Jaladhar Pati (42) of Amapura village under the Tamaka police station.
All the injured workers were first admitted in the Kalinganagar Government hospital. at Kalinganagar.
However, two of them were shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack as their condition was serious, said Jakhapur PS IIC Puspa Barik.
While many other workers had a close shave, the work of the plant was stopped after the blast.
When contacted, Factories and Boilers, Jajpur Inspector Kedarnath Hansada said, “We will take proper steps against the steel company after an inquiry.”
